Classic engines overhaul were introduced to the engine shop capability list and similarly to the other classics, this engine overhaul quality levels have been continuously enhanced through an extensive exchange of on-wing expertise and shop experience.

Currently, TAP Maintenance & Engineering maintains the engines overhaul lines for JT8D standard and keeps a portfolio of Customers with over one thousand heavy maintenance events performed.

Although these fleets are no longer operated by TAP Portugal, the extensive accumulated operational, troubleshooting and aircraft maintenance experience and knowledge have been preserved and cherished.
