TAP Maintenance & Engineering's vision is that human progress cannot develop at the cost of destroying the world in which human beings themselves live. Any activity, economic or not, must be permeated by an attitude to protect and respect the environment. The future conditions of life on the planet will depend on the actions taken today.

TAP M&E has an Environmental Management Program that holds three Treatment Plants in its Maintenance Centers, which transform liquid effluents in water, possible to be back in nature without any aggressive action, and which can be used in many industrial activities. Belonging to a segment that intensively uses advanced technology and energy resources, its primary guideline is to offer maximum protection to the environment in which it is inserted, having as objective the constant search for sustainable development. Its Environmental Responsibility is to interact closely with the community, to contribute towards the common well-being and preservation of the environment.

The program began in 1977, with the implementation of a Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant at Porto Alegre, and subsequently another in Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon. Its infrastructure was planned bearing in mind the treatment of effluents and environmental control. Other lines of action are environmental education, preservation of the flora and planting seedlings, selective garbage collection and recycling, and control and reduction in the consumption of polluting inputs. There is also a  Project which will make possible the re-use of treated water by the own company, in using such as aircraft washing, hangars and streets cleaning, bathrooms and general cleaning, gardening and many others.
